Nude 6: Stomping (side)
Nude 6 is inspired by little girls that stomp their feet with determination.
"Nudes Embraced" is a series of six A4-sized linocut prints by Christine Nikander. Christine created the series in 2020, during the global Covid-19 pandemic. As she has a background in sculpture, sketching nudes is something that she is very familiar with. While socially distancing alone at home, Christine found a lot of comfort and joy in sketching — and this series was born out of that.
The series celebrates the diversity and strength of women. That is also why some of the women in the nudes are literally edgy, some have very broad shoulders and close to all of them deviate from conventional beauty standards. 10% of the sales price of each print that is sold is donated to a network of different women’s organisations that work to combat the trafficking of women and to protect the human rights of women.
Each nude in the series is produced as a limited edition of 100 handmade prints. The prints are numbered at the bottom right accordingly and they are signed by the artist. Due to the nature of linocut printing, no two prints will be fully identical. Each nude comes with a postcard outlining the story behind this print series.
All prints are A4-sized (21.0 x 29.7 cm) and they ship flat in a cardboard-backed envelope. The nudes are printed on matte ivory-colored 260gsm card, which is FSC® certified.
