Social Entrepreneur. Jurist. Educator. Storyteller.

Christine Nikander is a social entrepreneur, an EU-trained jurist, an educator, and a storyteller. She is a graduate of Columbia Law School, Edinburgh University Law School, and Leiden University College. Directly after graduating from university, she worked as an associate at a large law firm in Amsterdam. After a few years in private practice, Christine however discovered that she thoroughly enjoys working at the nexus of law, business, sustainability, and social impact — and that is what she has been doing ever since.

Christine regularly works as a freelancer and a jurist on the EU market. Since 2020, Christine has also founded three companies and started three non-profit initiatives. Along with her own freelance company, she founded Nikander Holding B.V. and Palsa & Pulk B.V. She also started the not-for-profit initiatives: The E-Waste Column, Sustainability Education for Europe, and Mens Artium.

Christine holds degrees in public international law and environmental law. Her legal focus lays in environmental law, human rights, public international law, EU regulatory law, international arbitration, intellectual property, commercial litigation and corporate social responsibility. Throughout her studies, she also completed a number of courses in the natural and environmental sciences.

Christine has both the Finnish and the German nationality. She has lived in Germany, the USA, Finland, the UK and the Netherlands. She is fluent in English, German and Finnish and she has a good proficiency of Dutch, Swedish and French.
